Your Right to Deletion
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and international privacy standards, you have the right to request that we delete the personal information we hold about you. This page explains what gets deleted, what we may be required to retain, and how to make a request.
Option 1: Delete Via the App
The quickest way to delete your account is directly within the Nuff Reg app:
- Open the Nuff Reg app and sign in.
- Tap Profile in the bottom navigation.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Settings.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm your choice when prompted.
Your account deletion will be processed within 30 days of your request.
Option 2: Contact Us Directly
If you cannot access the app, or if you would like to submit your request manually, contact us using any of the following methods:

Please include the following in your request so we can locate your account:
- The email address or phone number registered on your account.
- Your full name.
- A brief statement confirming you wish to delete your account and all associated data.
What Gets Deleted
When your deletion request is processed, we will permanently delete or anonymise the following:
- Your account profile (name, email, phone number, ID details, address)
- All vehicle records linked to your account
- All service requests and their associated status history
- All documents you uploaded (ID copies, registration certificates, proof of residence)
- Push notification tokens and device data
- Communications between you and our team
- Licence disc and reminder records
What We May Be Required to Retain
In some cases, we are legally required to retain certain records even after your account is deleted:
- Financial records: Payment transactions may be retained for up to 5 years as required by the South African Companies Act and tax legislation.
- Fraud prevention records: If we have a legal obligation or legitimate interest to retain information for fraud or crime prevention purposes.
- Legal hold: If your data is relevant to a legal proceeding, we may be required to retain it until that proceeding concludes.
Retained records are kept in a restricted, archived state and are not used for any other purpose.
Timeline
We will acknowledge your deletion request within 3 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days of receiving a valid request. We will send you a confirmation once deletion is complete.
Third-Party Data
Deletion of your Nuff Reg account removes your data from our systems. However, please note:
- Information that was submitted to government departments (e.g. the DLTC or eNaTIS) as part of a service request is held by those government bodies and is outside our control.
- Push notification tokens held by Google Firebase will be invalidated upon account deletion.
- WhatsApp message history is stored on your device and in Meta's systems; deletion from our end does not remove messages from your WhatsApp.
